All of the previous Historical books we have read were written before the exile of Judah to Babylon, and so they pointed to that coming exile and highlighted Israel’s continuing Covenant disobedience that brought about the exile. Chronicles is about the same events as Samuel & Kings, but is written from a very different perspective and was clearly compiled after the first return from the exile, as it traces lineage to individuals who returned. The text indicates that earlier written records were used to compile it, which was done under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
